Main Turrets

This page provides details of the 8"/55-caliber main turret assemblies.

		Main 8"/55 turret (p/n R58). The base surface has been cleaned up; otherwise the part is as-received. Note the odd swirl pattern on all the vertical surfaces.

		Rear-quarter view of same part. Clean-up of the swirl pattern necessitated removal of all molded-on surface detail.

		First stage of turret "restoration." All surfaces have been cleaned/smoothed, and removed detail has been added back. This is a disappointing situation from my perspective: why include such surface detail in the first place if you're just going to render it unusable with gross quality problems.
